Like many golfers, former PGA Tour Pro and Top 30 money winner, Brian Tennyson, spent years frustrated with his inconsistent putting while trying every new putting method that came along. Exasperated and unable to find the solution he needed, he set out to learn why and immersed himself into the physics and mechanics of what the putter head must do during the stroke to make a putt roll true.
That led him to invent a ground-breaking new putter and putting method called LEAN LOCK. The patent pending LEAN LOCK putter combined with the LEAN LOCK putting method is uniquely designed to eliminate the problem of the wrists breaking down in the stroke. It effortlessly creates a straight path, reduces face rotation, and allows you to use the natural touch in your dominant hand to roll putts without fear.
Tennyson knew from playing alongside some of the Tour’s best putters, like Jack Nicklaus, Ben Crenshaw and Brad Faxon, they all had different methods but had one thing in common – their putter struck the ball in a way that got the ball rolling immediately, end-over-end, on the intended start line.
Arm Lock vs. LEAN LOCK
Arm Lock putting is a technique where the putter is intended to remain against the inside of your lead forearm during the putting stroke. The idea is to create a connection that reduces the tendency of the wrists to break down through impact, but maintaining that connection can be difficult when using Arm Lock.
LEAN LOCK guarantees the connection will be maintained and that the wrists will not break down. This unique method of gripping and holding the putter can only be achieved with the patent pending LEAN LOCK putter.
The LEAN LOCK putter has much more forward shaft lean angle than other putters, when the bottom of the putter is resting flat to the playing surface in its normal address position.
The putter’s shaft lean, the slightly rotated club grip on the shaft, the unique positioning of the shaft against the target side (outside) of your leading arm and the placement of the hands and wrists at address ensure that the wrists cannot “break down” at impact, and any tendency to do so will actually strengthen the locking effect.
With the shaft leaning forward so the putter rests flat to the ground, hold the putter with the trail hand only and the elbow bent as if you were going to putt with only that hand on the club. Choke down significantly on the grip with the shaft running up through the center of your palm so it is in line with your forearm.
The lead elbow should be bent and near the body at address. The lead hand and shoulder should be relaxed and passive, simply “along for the ride."
When the grip is correct, all four knuckles of the lead hand will be visible when looking down at address.
These three elements, The APA, stands for club face Aim, club head Path and Attack angle.
The LEAN LOCK putting method makes executing the Aim, Path and Attack angle (APA) easy to do and makes striking pure putts simple.

LEAN LOCK Putting Book
The Groundbreaking New Method for Making More Putts
By Brian Tennyson
In this clear and heavily illustrated book, Tennyson shares his secrets and provides a step-by-step guide to learning his game-changing LEAN LOCK putting method that makes striking pure putts simple and easy. This transformative book also outlines the key things every golfer must do to strike pure putts, and includes practice drills, common errors and quick tips that will help any golfer improve and keep their putting on track quickly and easily.
The LEAN LOCK Method will teach you how to strike a pure putt consistently and with confidence:
MINIMIZING FACE ROTATION
The direction the putter face points at impact is by far the most important key to rolling the golf ball on your intended start line.
A 15-foot putt will go in the hole as long as the face is less than 0.5 degrees open or closed at impact. Increase to 2.0 degrees open or closed at impact and even a 5-foot putt will miss.
According to data collected by PGA Professional and Lead Putting Instructor at TPC Sawgrass, Mike Shannon, PGA Tour Professionals typically range between 3 and 6 degrees of rotation during the back swing and the average collegiate players average 12-14 degrees.
Conquering face rotation will put you well on your way to becoming a great putter.
LEAN LOCK minimizes face rotation of the putter, without any conscious effort or manipulation, increasing the golfer’s ability to return the club face to square at impact
The quality and workmanship of LEAN LOCK putters is really impressive. The detailed milling and black oxide finish are professional grade, and the classic shapes combined with the white aiming lines make them easy to aim.
